Old Forester 1870 Original Batch is a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 45% ABV in a 75cl bottle. Its name refers to 1870, the year Brown-Forman founder George Garvin Brown began batching whiskey from three distilleries to keep the product consistent.
This bourbon was blended by Marianne Barnes, and the first batch was 36 barrels.
The nose is bright and lively, with fruit and floral notes over vanilla, caramel and a pleasant amount of oak. On the palate, vibrant fruit meets caramel sweetness and gentle oak. The finish carries cinnamon, nutmeg and other baking spices, with a little oak lingering.
