Old Pulteney 12 Year Old is a single malt Scotch whisky from Pulteney Distillery in Wick, on the north-east coast of Scotland, where whisky has been made since 1826. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 40% ABV.
The whisky is matured for 12 years in second-fill American oak ex-bourbon barrels. The pot stills have a bulbous base and no swan neck, and the warehouses stand close enough to the sea for the air to reach the casks.
The nose offers sea air, honey, vanilla and green apple. On the palate there is honey sweetness, creamy vanilla and a coastal saltiness, and the finish brings warming spice, a touch of caramel and a lingering salinity.
