Old Pulteney – 18 Years

This is an eighteen-year-old Highland single malt from Old Pulteney, the second most northerly distillery on the Scottish mainland. It is matured in ex-bourbon casks and in ex-Oloroso sherry butts made from Spanish oak, and is described as an intense, warming expression of a maritime malt. The nose brings cinnamon-spiced biscuit dough, ripe oak and a very light touch of charcoal. On the palate, dark chocolate and green apple set bitterness against sweetness, with vanilla and rye bread behind. The finish is citrus, sea salt and damp grass.
