Old Raven – Black (54%)

Old Raven Black is a triple distilled Austrian single malt, bottled at a cask strength of 54% vol. It comes from the Old Raven distillery in Neustift an der Lafnitz, near the border of Styria and Burgenland, which takes its name from the Rabenbräu inn-brewery of Andreas Schmidt. The Black edition draws on the oldest casks at Old Raven, hand-selected. Of the barley used, 15% is smoked and 85% unsmoked. The nose shows dark chocolate, wood, dried fruit, coffee, vanilla and a soft sherry note. The palate is intense, with honey, gentle peat smoke, forest fruit jam and dark chocolate. The finish is long, with light peat smoke, cocoa, roasted nuts and raisins.
