Old Rip Van Winkle 12 Year Old is a bourbon bottled at 45.2% in a 70cl bottle. It is the Van Winkle Special Reserve, a sweet, full-bodied whiskey that has been described by some as nectar, with 12 years of ageing at a medium proof. It has an amber-orange colour and a rich, deep character. It is often suggested as an after-dinner drink to rival a good cognac. The nose is complex, with toffee. The palate opens round and supple, then turns dry and expansive at medium body, with caramel, nuts and brown spices, and the finish is long and enveloping.
