Paolo Lazzaroni & Figli Marsala Fine Ambra Dolce (75cl, 17%)

This is a sweet amber Marsala from the Marsala DOC around Trapani in Sicily, made for the Saronno house of Paolo Lazzaroni & Figli. It is a Marsala Fine I.P. Ambra Dolce, in a 75cl bottle at 17% abv. Catarratto, Grillo and Inzolia form the blend. Cooked must gives the amber colour, and the wine spends about a year in oak. As a dolce, it carries over 100 g/L of residual sugar. On the nose it offers caramel and dried apricot over toasted hazelnut and brown sugar. The palate is luscious and sweet but balanced, with a clean, nutty finish.
