Pokeno Discovery Aotearoa New Zealand Single Malt Whisky (70cl, 43%)

Pokeno Discovery is a New Zealand single malt from Pokeno Distillery in the Waikato, bottled at 43%. It is made from unpeated malted barley grown on the South Island and cut with volcanic spring water from the Bombay Hills. The whisky matures in first-fill bourbon, ex-Oloroso sherry and ex-PX sherry casks. Once fully matured, the casks are married in a large vat for three months and rested for a final 48 hours before bottling. The tasting notes run to dark chocolate, black forest gateau, ripe cherries and sweet citrus, with a rich, smooth and very long finish as the PX and Oloroso casks linger.
