Pokeno Origin is a New Zealand single malt from Pokeno Distillery on the North Island, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle.
It is made from 100% malted barley and matured in first-fill bourbon barrels that previously held Jack Daniel's. The distillery was founded in 2017 and carries out distilling, maturation and bottling on site.
The nose is fresh and tropical, with light buttery grains, citrus zest and vanilla. The palate is creamy, with shortbread, nougat, almond butter, coconut and lemon, over a peppery oak note. The finish is medium, with lingering malt sweetness and gentle spice.
