This is a Port Ellen single malt from Islay, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for their Connoisseurs Choice series. It was distilled in 1981 and bottled in 1999 at 40% ABV, after 18 years in a refill sherry butt. It comes in a 70cl bottle with a map label.
Despite the sherry cask, the whisky has a light golden colour. Port Ellen is a closed distillery, which makes this a bottling from a finished chapter of Islay whisky.
It is described as having gentle smoke, maritime salinity and a subtle citrus sweetness, with a velvety texture.
