This Port Ellen was distilled in 1981 and bottled in 1999 after 18 years in a single cask, number 1390. The Vintage Malt Whisky Co. bottled it at 43% for its Cooper's Choice series, and 300 bottles were filled.
Port Ellen was founded in 1825 on the southern coast of Islay and closed in 1983. This bottling is a restrained take on the distillery's peated, maritime style.
