Rabbit Hole Heigold is a high-rye Kentucky bourbon from Rabbit Hole Distillery in Louisville, founded by Kaveh Zamanian. The mash bill is roughly 70% corn, 25% malted rye and 5% malted barley, and the whiskey is matured in new American oak barrels that are toasted and then charred. It is bottled at 47.5% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
The name honours Christian Heigold, a 19th-century German immigrant stonecutter in Louisville whose carvings remain a local landmark.
The nose is toasted malt, honey, vanilla and baking spice. The palate has butterscotch, caramelised sugar, citrus peel and toasted grain with lively rye spice, and the finish is long, with pepper, oak and caramel.
