RD One Double Finished is a Kentucky straight bourbon, distilled, aged and bottled in Lexington. The base is aged for four years or more and made from 70% corn, 21% rye and 9% barley. It is bottled at 49.95%.
The bourbon is finished twice, first with French oak staves and then in oak that has been steeped in maple syrup through a patented process of pressure, oxygen, time and temperature.
The nose opens with maple and butterscotch, followed by lightly toasted caramel, roasted pecans and paprika. On the palate, maple meets black peppercorn spice, with a light touch of toasted caramel at the end.
