Redbreast 21 Year Old is an Irish single pot still whiskey, made from malted and unmalted barley and distilled in copper pot stills.
It is matured for 21 years in a mix of casks: bourbon barrels, sherry butts and finishing casks, often Portuguese wine or Madeira. Together they build on Redbreast's fruity, round house style.
The nose is rich with dried figs, apricot, raisins, stewed orchard fruit and orange marmalade, over baking spice, toasted oak, caramel, vanilla and a note of dark chocolate. The palate brings almond, marzipan, peach, pear, dried plum and date, with oak spice and ginger. The finish is long and warming, with dried fruit, dark berries, honey and toffee.
