Colonel Armstrong is a wheated bourbon from Redwood Empire Whiskey of Vallejo, California, in a 75cl bottle. It is named after Colonel James Armstrong, whose gift of ancient redwood forest to his daughter Kate became Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve. The four-grain blend has 30% wheat in the mash bill. It combines Redwood Empire's own California spirit with selected high-wheat bourbons from Kentucky and Indiana, aged between four and fourteen years, and then rests in Northern California's cool, foggy coastal climate. Coordinates on the bottle lead to the Colonel Armstrong Tree. The brand's notes list ripe stone fruit, honeyed grain, vanilla, strawberry jam sandwich, gentle baking spice and integrated oak, with a soft mouthfeel and a smooth oak finish.
