Royal Brackla – 12 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Finish (70cl, 46%)

This is a 12-year-old single malt from Royal Brackla, matured in American oak and then given a further period in Oloroso sherry casks. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtration or added colour, and belongs to the sherry finish range introduced in 2021. Malt Master Stephanie Macleod chose casks from Bodegas Jose y Miguel Martin in Jerez, aiming to complement the fruity distillery character rather than cover it. The nose brings cranberries, cola bottles and plums with dark bread, a savoury hint of oyster sauce, toffee pudding and chocolate sauce. The palate is medium-bodied and slightly oily, with plum jam, milk chocolate raisins, toffee cake, candied red apple, almond butter and Medjool dates. The finish is long, with dates and orange oil.
