This is a 16 year old Highland single malt from Royal Brackla, distilled in 2008 and released as No.41 in Mossburn's Vintage Casks series.
The whisky spent two years finishing in Monbazillac wine casks. The sweet wine finish added weight, a viscous texture and a richness of caramelised fruit. Royal Brackla was founded in 1812, and King William IV granted it Royal status in 1835.
Honeyed apricots, floral notes and a touch of spicy oak mark the nose. The palate brings caramelised fruit and a complex sweetness, and the finish is long, with a lingering vinous depth.
