Royal Brackla 8 Year Old is a Highland single malt bottled by Duncan Taylor in its Octave series and finished in a Pedro Ximénez cask. It was distilled on 2 October 2017 and bottled on 21 July 2026 at a cask strength of 53.7%, with no chill-filtration and no added colour. Only 90 bottles come from this single cask.
Octave casks hold about 65 litres, which means close contact between the whisky and the wood.
The nose offers dark raisins, ripe plums, toffee, caramel and vanilla, with baking spices and a light malt note. On the palate come ripe figs, strong mocha, dark chocolate and firm oak spice. The finish is long, with spicy oak and a touch of vanilla.
