Royal Salute 21 Year Old is a blended Scotch whisky created in 1953 as a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II on the day of her coronation. It comes in a porcelain flagon, and every whisky in the blend is at least 21 years old. The malts are mainly from Strathisla in Speyside.
The nose is sweet pear and citrus with autumn flowers, vanilla and dry oak. On the palate are orange marmalade and fresh pear, then winter spices, hazelnut and a sherry sweetness. The finish is very long, dry and slightly spicy, ending with soft smoke.
