Sailor's Home 10 Year Old The Horizon Barbados Rum Cask Finish (70cl, 43%)

This is a 10-year-old Irish blend of grain and single malt whiskies, bottled by The Sailor's Home for its Island Series at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Company and brand take their name from a seamen's mission built in Limerick in 1856 by the city and local merchant families. The whisky matured for ten years in American bourbon casks, then received a finish in Barbados rum casks. The nose is brown sugar and plenty of ripe tropical fruit. The palate is full and sweet, with caramelised banana, honey, a little vanilla and fine oak. The finish is long and warming, with orange peel, some toffee and gentle oak.
