The Journey is an Irish whiskey from The Sailor's Home, bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle for its Explorer Series. The brand takes its name from a seamen's mission built in Limerick in 1856 by the city and local merchant families.
The whiskey was matured first in new American oak, then in ex-bourbon casks, and finished in Jamaican rum casks.
The nose opens with vanilla and butterscotch, followed by dark rum notes and toasted oak. The palate is full and creamy, with nectarine, exotic spices, vanilla and toasted almonds, plus a little cinnamon. The finish is long and warming, with dark fruit, some brown sugar and fine spices.
