Sazerac Rye Full Proof is a straight rye whiskey made at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, and bottled at 62.5% ABV (125 proof). It is non chill filtered and matured in new charred oak.
The name comes from the Sazerac Coffee House in New Orleans, where the Sazerac cocktail was created in the 1800s.
Dry rye spice, clove and anise sit over caramel, vanilla and toasted oak on the nose. The palate is thick, with peppery rye, cinnamon, brown sugar, dark fruit and firm oak tannin, and the finish is long and dry, with licorice, seasoned wood and lingering spice.
