Sazerac Rye, nicknamed Baby Saz, is the straight rye of the Sazerac Company, made at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. It traces its lineage to the original Sazerac House in New Orleans and the Sazerac cocktail, and it is bottled at 45% (90 proof).
The nose is soft, with clove, pepper and juicy citrus over rye spice and anise. The palate is light-bodied, with candied spice, citrus, dark fruit, caramel and a touch of black pepper. The finish is of medium length, with lingering rye spice and a hint of liquorice.
