Scapegrace Black Gin (70cl, 41.6%)

Scapegrace Black is a New Zealand dry gin with a natural inky colour, in a 70cl bottle at 41.6% abv. It is distilled in small batches using spring water from the Southern Alps. Thirteen botanicals go into it, including aronia berry, saffron, pineapple, butterfly pea and sweet potato, which give the colour. Mixed with tonic or citrus, it turns vivid indigo or pink. The nose offers tropical fruit, juniper and earthy spice, with pineapple, lime and clove. The palate is smooth and layered, with citrus, pepper and stone fruit, gentle floral sweetness, liquorice and cassia. The finish is clean and slightly sweet, with citrus peel and spice.
