Founder's Select OP is an overproof Canadian whisky from Signal Hill in Newfoundland, bottled at 56.3% ABV. It is made from Canadian corn and malted barley with Newfoundland spring water, and is non-chill-filtered.
The whisky is matured in a mix of new white-oak, ex-bourbon and ex-Canadian whisky barrels, which gives it an amber colour.
The nose combines burnt caramel, toasted oak, pecan pie and molasses with nutmeg, cinnamon and a hint of green apple. The palate is full-bodied, with butterscotch, candied pecan, vanilla and corn sweetness. The finish is long, sweet and spicy, with caramel, toasted grain and a soft peppery warmth.
