A 15 year old single malt from Glenburgie in Speyside, bottled by Signatory Vintage for its Exceptional Cask series. It was distilled in 2008 and matured in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts, then bottled at 57.1% ABV.
Most of Glenburgie's output goes into blends such as Ballantine's, and single malt releases are uncommon. This one is non-chill filtered and has no added colouring.
The nose offers raisins, figs, dates, dark chocolate and toffee, with roasted nuts, cinnamon and nutmeg. The palate is full, with dried fruit, caramel, honey, dark cherries and cocoa. The finish is long and warm, turning from sweet to dry, nutty sherry with clove.
