This is a single cask Islay single malt from Laphroaig, selected by independent bottler Signatory Vintage for its Symington's Choice range. It was distilled in 2000 and matured for 25 years in a first-fill Oloroso sherry butt, then bottled at its natural cask strength of 54.5% in a 70cl bottle.
The nose brings medicinal peat smoke with raisins, dried figs and dark chocolate, alongside orange peel, leather and toasted oak. On the palate, Oloroso sweetness meets dark caramel, cocoa, earthy peat, roasted walnuts and pepper. The finish is long and warming, with maritime smoke, dark chocolate, dried fruit and a gentle salty dryness.
