Skellig Triple Cask is a single pot still Irish whiskey from the Skellig Six18 Distillery, founded in 2019 in Cahersiveen, County Kerry. It belongs to the Six18 Step Collection, is made from malted and unmalted barley, triple-distilled in copper stills and bottled at 43%.
The whiskey matures in ex-bourbon casks, then moves to Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, with a short finish in casks that previously held peated whisky. That last step adds a light smokiness.
The nose is subtly fruity with a touch of caramel and a little smoke. The palate is creamy, with dried fruit and a measured sweetness, and the finish is soft and long, with a faint smoky trail.
