Slane Triple Cask is a triple-distilled Irish blend of grain and malt whiskeys, bottled at 40% in a 75cl bottle and carrying no age statement.
It is aged in three types of cask: virgin American oak, seasoned Tennessee whiskey barrels and Oloroso sherry casks from Jerez. Virgin oak is unusual in Irish whiskey, where pre-used barrels are the norm. The virgin and seasoned casks are made at Brown-Forman cooperages.
The nose is butterscotch, honey and ripe banana with a little cinnamon and orange peel. The palate is caramel and vanilla with baking spice and a hint of sherry, and the finish is medium, with toasted oak and gentle spice.
