Smokeye Hill Barrel Proof Rye is a five year old American rye from the Colorado brand, bottled at 66% ABV (132 proof) in a 750ml bottle. It is the brand's first rye and is made with heirloom blue corn alongside rye, yellow corn and malted barley. The spirit was distilled in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, then matured in Colorado Springs at around 6,100 feet in new American white oak barrels of various sizes and char levels. After five years, a portion of the brand's blue corn bourbon is blended in. It is bottled uncut and non-chill-filtered. The nose is earthy and rye-forward, with pine, antique wood, tobacco leaf and orange peel. The palate offers herbal rye spice, orchard fruit, vanilla and blue corn sweetness, and the finish is long and warming.
