Smokeye Hill Barrel Proof is a five year old straight bourbon from Colorado, bottled uncut and non-chill filtered at 66% (132 proof). The recipe is a four grain mash bill of heirloom blue corn, yellow corn, rye and malted barley.
The spirit is distilled in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, then matured in Colorado Springs at high elevation, in new American white oak barrels of various sizes and char levels. It was named Bourbon of the Year at the 2024 ASCOT Awards.
The nose brings caramelised brown sugar, vanilla, tobacco and oak. On the palate there is vanilla, caramel and honeysuckle with dark fruit, cacao, baking spice and toasted oak, leading to a long, warming finish.
