Old Scout Port Cask Finished is a straight rye whiskey from Smooth Ambler, finished in port casks. Smooth Ambler does not distil Old Scout itself. The whiskey is sourced elsewhere, then brought to the mountains of West Virginia and bottled there, alongside the whiskey the company makes at its own distillery. The port cask finish is the step that sets this bottling apart, an extra period of maturation given to a whiskey the company found and thought could be improved.
