Southern Star The Standard is a high-rye straight bourbon from Southern Distilling Company in Statesville, North Carolina, bottled at 45% in a 750ml bottle. The mash is 36% rye.
The family-owned distillery of Pete and Vienna Barger distils on the tallest column still in North Carolina and bottles its small batches by hand.
The nose is fragrant with caramel, vanilla cotton candy and a hint of leather. Subtle rye spice, vanilla and wood lead the palate, and the finish is creamy and long.
