Speyside 15 Year Old is a sherry-matured single malt from Speyside Distillery, bottled at 48.2% ABV. The distillery was built by drystone dyker Alex Fairlie, commissioned in 1962 and finished in 1987, with the first spirit running from its stills in 1991.
The nose offers dark chocolate, raisins and orange zest, with dried fig, toffee, spiced oak and a faint floral note of rose or heather. The palate is silky and mouth-coating, with blackcurrant, plum and candied peel, then nutmeg, cinnamon and hazelnut praline, held in check by gentle tannin and a touch of leather. The finish is long, with dark fruit, oak spice and a faint cocoa bitterness.
