Spirit of Hven – Backafallsbyn Hvenus Rye Whiskey (75cl, 45.6%)

Spirit of Hven Backafallsbyn Hvenus is a Swedish rye whiskey, distilled on the island of Hven and bottled at 45.6% in a 75cl bottle. It is organically produced, non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. It is a master blend of 42 American oak casks, with whiskies aged between 3 and 6 years. The four-grain mash is 78.6% rye, 11.9% wheat, 4.8% corn and 4.8% barley. It was named European Whisky of the Year at the 2019 Wizard of Whisky Awards. The nose is rye spice and vanilla with dried fruit and a floral lift. On the palate come caraway and cinnamon over honeyed oak, the wheat and corn softening the rye. The finish is long and warming.
