This is a 1975 St. Magdalene single malt, a Gordon & MacPhail Rare Old bottling at 43% ABV.
The whisky was distilled in 1975 at the now-closed St. Magdalene distillery and matured for over 30 years in refill sherry hogsheads.
The nose offers green fruit, apple peel, dark sugar, creamy chocolate, eucalyptus oil and buttered granary toast. On the palate come malt extract, juicy barley, cereal sweetness, orange marmalade and heather roots, with a dry oak note. The finish is long and dry.
