This is a single cask St. Magdalene from the Lowlands, a distillery at Linlithgow that closed in 1983. The whisky was distilled in 1982 and matured for 40 years in a refill American hogshead, cask 2100. The cask was filled on 1 July 1982 and the whisky was bottled at cask strength, 54.5%, on 6 February 2023. It yielded 150 bottles of 70cl, non-chill-filtered and without added colour. Gordon & MacPhail released it in the Private Collection, as part of the second edition of The Recollection Series, which features whiskies from closed or long-silent distilleries. The nose offers orange, clove, sweet red apple and butterscotch. On the palate there is soft citrus, poached pear, walnut and marzipan, and the finish is full and spicy with lasting aniseed.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
