Stagg Batch 18 is the Fall 2022 release of this barrel proof Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort. It is bottled at 131 proof (65.5%) in a 75cl bottle, uncut and unfiltered.
It is made from Buffalo Trace's low rye Mash Bill #1 and aged for roughly eight to nine years in heavily charred new American oak. It was the first release after the Jr. suffix was dropped, while still carrying a batch number.
Deep mahogany in colour, the nose offers dark caramel, brown sugar and black cherry over charred oak, pipe tobacco and baking spice. The palate is thick, with chocolate, brown sugar, rye spice, molasses, leather and cracked pepper. The finish is long, with cherries, cloves and smokiness.
