A Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery, bottled at barrel proof, 130 proof or 65%, with no water added and no chill filtration. Batch 22B is the Winter 2022 release.
It was the first batch to carry the year and letter naming, replacing sequential numbers, and was previously known as Batch 19. The name honours George T. Stagg. The bourbon is made from Buffalo Trace's low rye Mash Bill #1 and aged for roughly eight years in heavily charred new American oak.
It pours a deep mahogany. The nose brings brown sugar, dark cherry and pipe tobacco over vanilla bean and toasted oak. The palate is bold, with black cherry, cinnamon, molasses, dark chocolate and barrel char, and the finish is long and hot, with pepper, caramel and smoky oak.
