Stagg Jr. Batch 14 is the Spring 2020 release of Buffalo Trace's barrel proof bourbon, bottled at 130.2 proof (65.1%) without dilution or chill filtration. The whiskey is eight years old, made to Buffalo Trace's low rye Mash Bill #1 and matured in charred white oak. The name honours George T. Stagg.
It pours a deep mahogany. The nose brings dark caramel, brown sugar and black cherry over charred oak, pipe tobacco and warm baking spice. The palate is thick and mouthcoating, with sweet chocolate and brown sugar balanced by rye spice, molasses, leather and cracked pepper. The finish is long, with cherries, cloves and a little smoke.
