Stranahan's Mountain Angel is a 12 year old American single malt from Colorado, bottled as Batch 2 at 47.3% ABV. It is aged in Denver at altitude.
The whiskey matured in new charred American oak barrels before a finish in Port wine casks, which adds red fruit and a touch of sweetness.
The nose is deep, with caramelised nectarine, fig paste, lavender, gentle oak spice and toasted malt. The palate is full-bodied, with blueberry compote, ginger-lemon tart, raspberry cheesecake and blackberry strudel, alongside honeyed malt and vanilla.
