A 36 year old single grain Scotch whisky from Strathclyde, a Lowland distillery, bottled by Thompson Bros of Dornoch. It comes at 41% ABV, in natural colour and without chill filtration.
The nose offers charred banana bread, vanilla pods and Linzer biscuits, with gentle citrus, orchard fruits and a hint of Gewürztraminer. On the palate are plum syrup and peach liqueur, then herbal tea, a little camphor, toasted coconut and gentle oak.
The finish moves towards the rounded character of mature Cuban rum, with lingering sweetness and light oak.
