This is a 20 year old Tamdhu from Speyside, distilled in 1999 and bottled by Douglas Laing at 51.5% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It comes from a single virgin oak hogshead, and 265 bottles were produced.
Tamdhu is mainly matured in sherry casks, so a virgin oak hogshead shows the distillery in a different light.
The nose has hard candy, summer straw, strawberry jam and vanilla ice cream. The palate brings honeyed barley, gentle spiced oak, vanilla and caramel. The finish is spiced, developing damp leaves, charred oak and buttery biscuits.
