A Speyside single malt from Tamdhu, Distinction Release 03, bottled at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is built around American oak sherry casks: the oak is air dried and made into casks in Spain's sherry triangle over six years, then seasoned with Oloroso sherry before the casks travel to the distillery.
The spirit takes rich fruity flavours and a natural amber colour from that oak. The nose offers shortbread dipped in vanilla cream, with oak, citrus and peppermint. Soft oak coats the palate before plums and chocolate limes, and the sherried oak of the finish fades to dried cherries and honeycomb.
