Teaninich 8 Year Old is a 2025 Special Release made with rye. The spirit comes from a 2016 experiment at Teaninich using its rare mash filter, with malted rye and barley mashed together. It was matured in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 60.3% ABV.
As there is no category for single malt rye, it is classed as a grain whisky, despite being distilled in pot stills at a malt distillery.
Cinnamon and clove mark the nose, with a spicy toffee sweetness on the palate.
