Teeling Sommelier Selection Recioto Red Wine Cask Finish Irish Whiskey

This is an Irish whiskey from Teeling, part of the Sommelier Selection, which takes the Teeling Small Batch and finishes it in wine casks. Here the casks held Recioto, a sweet red wine from Veneto in Italy. The grain and malt whiskeys matured separately in ex-bourbon casks, then were combined in a ratio of 4:1 and spent 16 months in the Recioto casks. The nose is sweet, with white nougat, cranberries and cherries over a hint of plum jam. The palate brings dried plums, cranberries and cherries with lively spice and rosewater. The finish is long, fruity and spicy, with dark chocolate and pistachio.
