Teerenpeli – Portti Port Wood Finished (50cl, 43%)

Teerenpeli Portti is a Finnish single malt finished in port casks. The whisky spends three to four years in small ex-bourbon casks of 140 litres, then a further year and a half in port casks. Portti means 'gate' in Finnish, a nod to port wine, and the bottling has been part of the distillery's range since 2016. It is bottled at 43% in a 50cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and without added colour. The nose offers pronounced fruit, caramelised sugar and malty sweetness, with wine notes and vanilla. The palate is soft and bittersweet, with port, a touch of black pepper, nutmeg and white pepper. The finish is long, with a fiery warmth.
