The Block Distilling Co. Four Grain Straight Whiskey is made from rye, wheat and malted barley with oats added as a fourth grain. It was distilled on a single column and rested for two years in char-3 American white oak seasoned for 36 months. It is bottled at 47.5% ABV, or 95 proof, in a 750ml bottle.
The oats bring a honeyed sweetness that sits against the baking spice of the rye.
The nose and palate show sweet vanilla and caramel over toasted oak with a lift of baking spice. The body is medium and smooth, and the finish is long and layered, with spice lasting to the end.
