The Epicurean Amarone Wine Cask Finish is a limited-edition Lowland blended malt from Douglas Laing, part of the Wood Finish series. It is made from 100% Lowland malt whiskies and bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle, with no added colouring and no chill-filtration.
The whisky matured in American oak, then spent two years in a single hand-selected Amarone wine cask from Valpolicella in northern Italy.
Tasting notes describe cocoa nibs, dark cherries, acai berries, ginger and cinnamon on the nose. The palate is sweet and spicy, with red berries, nutmeg and warming oak, and the long finish brings pepper, espresso and tangy raspberry.
