The GlenAllachie – 10 Year Old Spanish Virgin Oak Finish Batch 3 (48%)

This is The GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Spanish Virgin Oak Finish, Batch 3 of the Virgin Oak Series. The whisky has a secondary maturation in hogsheads made from Spanish oak from Galicia and Asturias, in the Cantabrian Mountains. The oak was air-dried for around 18 months, then toasted and charred to a medium level. The time in virgin wood deepened the mahogany colour of the whisky. It is bottled at 48%, with natural colour and non-chill-filtered. The nose offers orchard fruits, baking spices and sticky toffee pudding, with brown sugar, glazed cherries and citrus. On the palate come chocolate, coffee and heather honey, then pepper, ginger and molasses, with banana and sultanas on the finish.
