The GlenAllachie – 8 Year Old Scottish Virgin Oak Finish (48%)

An 8 year old single malt from The GlenAllachie, taken from Batch 3 of its Virgin Oak Series. It is bottled at 48%, non-chill filtered and of natural colour. The whisky had additional maturation in casks made from Scottish Sessile Oak (Quercus petraea) from the Atlantic coast. The wood was air dried for 36 months, then toasted to a medium level and charred before filling. The casks add notes of blonde chocolate, zesty orange and toffee. The nose is baked oats, butterscotch and toffee with cinnamon, gingersnaps and heather honey. The palate has heather honey, orchard fruit and lemon zest, then white chocolate, cinnamon and ginger, with toffee and butterscotch in the finish.
